Update October 2019

Hi, Every Saturday in the month of October I will be performing at The Alderney Landing Farmers Market 10am-1pm. They have asked me to tell folk tales and sing folk songs from the collections of the great folklore collector, Helen Creighton. I will also be performing some Irish folk songs and telling stories from the Irish tradition too.

The Halifax Ghost Walk is in full swing for the month as well as we approach Halloween. See my shows page for dates I will be guiding tours through downtown Halifax telling tales of history and ghosts. Private tours are also available, Message me about that.

Keep an eye on The Carelton on Argyle Street in Halifax. I play every two or three weeks there during their dinner service for your listening pleasure.

I’m looking at booking shows in BC for May 2020.

In May 2019 I performed at the Joe Heaney Festival in Carna, Co. Galway, Ireland. It was four days of events featuring the best sean nós (or old style) singers from Ireland and they invited me to perform along side them. So honoured. It was a celebration of the Irish folk tradition of sharing songs. Each event had a host who called on individuals to sing a song and then call on the next singer to do the same.

The festival is run by Joe Heaney’s family and it is really special. The Road to Connemara, the companion record to The Way to Grace I released in 2018 is a tribute to Joe and the old style and as I said, it was an honour to perform at the festival

There is video of the event on facebook courtesy of https://www.facebook.com/seanmcboc/ Here is one video he took of me https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2680049115400409 you can scroll through for a couple more. This site is run by a modern day folk song collector who travels to events like this to capture the performances and shares them with the world.

I am getting ready to start giving tours on The Halifax Ghost Walk for the summer and fall, (June 1 - October 30) as well as booking shows. I have an account set up at www.sidedooraccess.com if you want to book a show through there or contact me directly.

Find out about the ghost walk here https://www.facebook.com/thehalifaxghostwalk/

The set has guitar songs, a few acapella numbers and stories to back all of it up. Pre production is starting on a new recording with a plan for a 2020 release date.
